Mr President
how I drank you in
watching all of you
greatly honoured you speak for me
But you had everything coated
You rose to the podiums
For curated, crafted words
your heart ill with indifference and other poisons
the strangest of gods residing and walking with you
it was only the fleeting, flying sparks with you
never the light of truth
the charms of this world serving you
we took the dangled crumbs
yeah in the end I saw
that, that crown you wear
I, all of us gave it
But it escaped me
when it ascended to adorn you
and we, left just spectators.
